When it comes to living room style, I'm definitely drawn to a more formal and contemporary design that still carries a cosy and homely feel. The following 3 living areas are by some of my favourite designers; Staffan Tollgard, Sophie Paterson & Rachel Winham. All three spaces promote a social seating arrangement without compromising on the aesthetics of the design.
I just love this design, Tollgard has used smooth shapes within the furniture and unruly textures in the wallpaper & soft furnishings to make this living room feel super cosy. This in comparison to the beautiful features of the grade II listed, 19th century town house integrates classic and contemporary design perfectly.
I'm in love with the way that Sophie Paterson uses colour. The whole room is neutral but the array of tones makes it feel far from dull. A sense of glam has been added to the space with the crushed velvet rug and the mix of materials in the cushions.
Although the ceilings are super high in this space, the designer has managed to keep the comfortable and intimate feeling with a warm colour palette and lots of soft furnishings. Keeping the blinds over half way closed gives the effect of smaller, less imposing windows.
